Conference: The Future of Healthcare in Europe 13 May 2011

Registration will open in March 2011 Bringing together expertise from academia, government, public policy institutes, think tanks and the third sector from across Europe, this conference will seek to define the major health challenges that Europe faces and explore the ways in which different European countries are responding to these to find potential solutions.

Comparing the range of national models currently in place or undergoing reform, we can identify different mechanisms, which are generally dependent on the countries¹ respective socio-political contexts. The conference will also consider the extent to which there might be economic benefit from pan-European action on healthcare, and how the impact of prevention in healthcare can be measured. By stimulating knowledge exchange across sectors in the UK and the EU, the conference aims to increase research, governmental, and non-governmental cooperation on this vital issue. The event will bring together leading academic experts, healthcare professionals, consultants and public policy officials to discuss the sector¹s key challenges, identify existing good practices and develop concrete policy recommendations.

Convened by Professor Sir John Tooke, UCL Vice-Provost (Health), the UCL European Institute and UCL Grand Challenges, in cooperation with the Finnish Institute in London. http://www.ucl.ac.uk/european-institute/events/healthcare
